What we"ve been up to...band bio

Five A.M. has played hundreds of dates throughout the Western United
States, all with the energy and drive of an original band on a mission.

The group builds its sound around lead singer/songwriter Trent
Yaconelli, who has the rare ability to write pop songs with a poet's soul.
Backing him is a driving rhythm section led by drummer Jed Friesen, a
natural born performer and an inventive linguist; bassist Jason McGrath, our talented hero from Napa who also happens to be a mechanic; and percussionist Benjie
Kushins, a rhythmic dynamo whose small size makes him ideal for long
road trips. Complementing all of this is lead guitarist Zach Hammer who
plays like someone named Zach Hammer should.

Voted "Best Rock Band" three years in a row by audiences in Northern
California, both of Five A.M.'s CD's were financed by their listeners.
Their debut album, "Degress of Falling" was made with over $21,000 of fan
investment. The album launched the group to the forefront of Northern
California rock bands, receiving regular airplay on radio stations all
over the Bay Area. Their single "Paper Bag" stayed in the Top 10 on Mix
104.1 FM for three months, alongside Dave Matthews and U2. They also
found success on the internet as they shot into Cornerband.com's
charts--in both Rock and Pop categories--and stayed in the Top 10 for over a
year. The album has sold over 5,000 copies to date, and was the first
ever independent release to be named "CD Pick of the Week" by KRSH 95.9 FM
(The Crush) in Santa Rosa.

In 2005, the group completed work on their second CD, "This Morphine
Life.” This time the album was realized by the owner of a major Bay
Area studio, who was so inspired after seeing the band perform live that
he recorded the entire album on spec.

Playing a raw original rock all their own, Five A.M.'s intense live
energy has brought them into the league of national acts, where they've
opened for Train, Gin Blossoms, Sister Hazel, Dishwalla, Cracker, Guster,
Bob Schneider, and Doobie Brother Michael McDonald.

2009 promises to be a huge year for the band. A new project is in the
works to take things to an entirely new level. Keep listening…
